Interview with Arthur H. Kaspar, Chairman of the board of Kaspar Wire Works, and Don. G. Kaspar, President of Kaspar Wire Works. Arthur discusses the family background, his father's wire basket business in Shiner, Texas, the expansion of the business in the 1920s, and his sales trips using a Model T. He also talks about the addition of coat hangers to the products list, the development of spot welding in 1929, the success of florist wire easels and swimming pool basket products, as well as the building of the plant in 1932, the development of custom work, the effect of the Depression, product inclusion in a national catalog in 1935, and the addition of the shopping basket line in 1936. Arthur also recalls the civilian products shutdown and wartime contracts in the 1940s, the financing of the business, and civic activities in Shiner. In his interview, Don Kaspar describes Shiner, Texas in the 1930s, his Korean War experience, his work as a sales manager at a plant, the addition of newspaper racks and wire computer parts to the products line, as well as the activities and incorporation of Kaspar Wire Works, Kaspar Properties, Kaspar Electroplating, and Kasper Die and Tool. He also discusses the corporate structure of the company, personnel practices, his views on government regulations, prospects for corporate growth, and civic activities in Shiner.
